To analyze a performance problem, start with the question, “Do they know how?”
Many performance “problems” happen because a team member doesn’t know how to do the job you want them to do, while you assume that they do. Don’t assume. And don’t just ask them if they know how because they may think they’re doing things right.
Knowing how to do the job is the baseline. If they don’t know how, you have a training problem, not a supervision problem.
