Your world is full of challenges. You’ll do a better job of meeting the challenges if you banish some common wishful thinking. It would be nice if things were easier or if they always worked, but they aren’t and they don’t. Here are some other things that would nice if they were true.
It would be nice if you could plan the error out of things, but you can’t.
It would be nice if people always told the truth, but they don’t.
It would be nice if people didn’t filter messages through their self-interest, but they do.
It would be nice if everybody liked you, but they won’t.
It would be nice if we could be totally rational, but we can’t.
It would be nice if people didn’t bring problems from the rest of life to work, but they will.
It would be nice if every problem had a solution, but they don’t.
It would be nice if a positive mental attitude was all you need, but it isn’t.
It would nice if you could learn to do leadership from books, but you can’t.
If would be nice if you could get through today without a mistake, but you won’t.
