If you’re looking for guarantees, being a boss is the wrong job. The best you can do is play the odds and choose behaviors that have the best chance of making things come out right.
When you do that, you’ll increase your success rate. If you work at continuous improvement, you will increase your success rate over time. But, even so, some days you’ll get lucky and win when you don’t “deserve” it. Other days, you’ll do everything right and get a bad outcome. That’s just the way it is.
