From the Independent Business Blogs: 12/11/19

Independent business blogs are blogs that aren’t supported by an organization like a magazine, newspaper, company, or business school. Those people provide lots of great content, but they don’t need any additional exposure. In this post, every week, I bring you posts of quality from excellent bloggers that don’t get as much publicity.

This week, I’m pointing you to posts by Karin Hurt, David Dye, Terri Klass, Tanveer Naseer, Scott Eblin, and Alli Polin.

From Karin Hurt and David Dye: How to Get Your New Team to Trust You

“Do you ever wish your new team would talk to your last team? That would save so much precious time. If you could just get your new team to trust you, you’d get on to making your usual magic. But it’s never as simple as that. If you’re good, you may feel you deserve a better reception from your new team. You may warrant a warm reception, but they don’t know you, the last guy was a jerk (or a superstar), and they’re still recovering.”

From Terri Klass: Understanding The People Piece Of Change

“Throughout the years helping all size teams as well as individual leaders face a constant level of change has taught me many lessons about change strategies. Probably the most key takeaway when confronting change is that it is not the actual change that matters but rather people’s reaction to change. All the procedures and processes put into place when a change ripples across a work world will be far less successful if the people piece is not addressed.”

From Tanveer Naseer: Why Training Your Employees Is Essential To The Success Of Your Business

“Training is something many people see as a requirement and nothing more, but offering good quality training to all of your employees is the best way to increase your chances of success. Your employees are the powerhouse behind what you do, and so making sure they have the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential will only boost your business. Here are some key reasons why training your employees is essential to the success of your business.”

From Scott Eblin: How to Manage Your Workload So You Have Time for the Unexpected

“Here are three action steps you can take to manage your workload so you have time for unexpected problems or issues.”

From Alli Polin: A Structured Guide: How to Look Back to Move Forward

“It’s the end of the year and the end of a decade in a few weeks. Before you leap into your planning and goals for the next quarter, year, or the next ten, give yourself an hour to look back. Find a quiet space, grab a piece of paper, your journal, or Evernote, and settle in to look back to leap forward.”

That’s it for this week’s selections from independent business blogs. If you liked this piece you may enjoy my curation posts on this blog. Every Tuesday, “Leaders and Strategies in Real Life” helps you learn about leadership by studying what real leaders do. On Fridays you can wrap up your week with “Weekend Leadership Reading” consisting of choice articles on hot leadership topics culled from the business schools, the business press and major consulting firms.

How I Select Posts for this Midweek Review

The five posts I select to share in my Midweek Review of the Independent Business Blogs are picked from a regular review of about sixty blogs I check daily and an additional twenty-five or so that I check occasionally. Here’s how I select the posts you see in this review.

They must be published within the previous week.

They must support the purpose of the blog: to help leaders at all levels do a better job and lead a better life.

They must be from an independent business blog.

As a general rule, I only select posts that stand on their own, no selections from a series.

Also as a general rule, I do not select posts that are either a book review or a book report.

I reserve the right to make exceptions to the above.

Here, on Three Star Leadership, I post things that will help a boss at any level do a better job and live a better life. At Wally Bock’s Writing Edge, I share tools and insights to help you write better.
