Tell them what’s important, but don’t stop there. Show them. Model the behavior you want. Make sure you share the same message in both ways.
Your show and your tell need to send the same message or you’ll come off as insincere or, even worse, as a manipulator and deceiver. If that happens your team members won’t believe anything you say and take their cues from what you do.
