Part of your job is helping your team members grow, develop, and succeed. That’s easy when you control most of what they do. And it’s easy after you know you can trust them to act effectively on their own. The tough part is in the middle.

That’s when you’re not quite ready, not quite sure that they can decide and act on their own. And it’s usually when they think they’re ready. This can be a catch-22. If you don’t ever let them do things on their own, you’ll never learn if they can.

Remember this. If you want them to grow, you have to let go.
